Travelers Insurance’s suit against PF Chang’s is a reminder of the importance of having Cyber/Privacy Liability Insurance to protect your company against data breaches and other unintended exposure of sensitive information.
Many executives believe that their company’s General Liability policy will protect them from the costs associated with data breaches. Travelers wants to establish that that is not the case, at least not for the restaurant chain PF Chang’s.
In a suit recently filed by the company, Travelers is asking the court to affirmatively find that the GL policy it issued to PF Chang’s should not be required to pay any of the costs resulting from the restaurant chain’s recent data breach:
