According to the Claims Journal, the following Employment Practices Liability (EPLI) claims continue to be the top trending EPLI cases:
1. Unpaid internships,
2. Illegal background checks,
3. Pregnancy, and
4. Health-related employment discrimination
The article also points out that the cost of defending EPLI claims is escalating, “According to an Advisen white paper released last month, defense costs can top out at $300,000 and the timeline for resolution can be anywhere from 18 to 24 months.”
In addition to outlining the most common types of claims that employers are currently facing, the article also revealed that New York, California, Texas and Florida are seeing the most EPLI claims.
